    Ping!
I think I'm talking to myself. No matter, there are fewer disagreements this way. And I always laugh at my own jokes.

I'm typing this while noshing on a sandwich during a very brief lunch break. I'm having one of those days. Too many forest fires, and not enough hoses to go around. Screw it. I'm going to have a very nice dinner tonight with my favorite aunt who is in town on business, and I'm going to Dallas this weekend to play Scrabble. It's the little things that keep us going...

    Paging Mr. Lehman
Last week, there was an article about me ("Local Nerd Plays Scrabble!") in one of those little community newspapers. You know, about how I go to tournaments, carry around flashcards in my back pocket, Scrabble is really a math game, blah blah blah. It didn't exactly cover any new ground, but I thought it was a pretty decent little article except for one thing... The author, who interviewed me two months ago, apparently forgot how to read her own handwriting in the intervening weeks and ended up transmogrifying my last name into Lehman (instead of Lennon). All through the article, it was Lehman this and Lehman that. I came into work a couple days after it was published and found that one of my co-workers (not Wiegand) had discovered the article, scanned it, and forwarded it to the whole company. As you might guess, I have been called "Mr. Lehman" about 500 times since then. Nevertheless, I emailed the author to tell her I enjoyed the article, and thanked her for "protecting the innocent." To her credit, she was mortified, and apologized profusely. Btw, during that interview, I asked her how she found out about me. The explanation was kind of garbled. Something about how she was actually searching the web for pinball players and somehow ended up on the National Scrabble Association website. Go figure.

I've been studying the new words feverishly for the last month or so, trying to get myself ready for the Dallas Open (do the DO!) this weekend. I still don't feel entirely comfortable with them. My recall is pretty good, but I just haven't played enough games. Those twos and threes haven't yet settled into my subconscience. I have to think "okay, am I missing something?" when trying to form an overlapping play. Hopefully, it won't cost me any games this weekend. Even though it's a single-division tournament, the field is surprisingly strong. There are probably 15 people who can win it. Should be interesting.

    I have been assimilated!
Yes, it's true. Like an unsuspecting ray of light passing by a black hole, I have been sucked into the vortex known as LiveJournal. Looking down, I can see my feet stretching into infinity. I'm not really the blogger type, mostly because I consider my life too boring to bother keeping a journal. However, since I'm tired of spamming other people's blogs under the moniker of "anonymous," I'm taking the plunge. Just don't expect too much out of me. Most of the time, I'm much too busy doing important stuff like memorizing zillions of words that I'll never use in conversation, in the vague hope of doing well at a competitive endeavor that pays essentially nothing. Anyway, thanks for coming by. Say hi if you're so inclined.
