So, BSG ended in December. But the Mutant Reviewers from Hell have never been noted for our timeliness. Hey- BSG makes us wait for the content, we make them wait for their reviews, right? :) Anyway, that said, almost a year ago, there was a post during the final haitus on Top Ten BSG Moments Worth Talking About (And Five Where You Can Save Your Breath). Now, we've finally finished our take on Season 4.5. It's a fun, geeky site to read reviews on, and we had a great time writing this one. So if you're bored or need a break from Christmas prep frenzy, mosey on over and have a look! ::goes back to frantically baking cookies:: |

I was given permission to pass this message from EJO on to whomever would be interested - so please feel free to pass it along, yourself! I encourage you to donate to Sextol Sol's cause as part of your holiday giving, as I have. ------------------------------------- From Edward James Olmos: I would like to extend my season's greetings to you. As we approach the end of another year, I am often reminded how blessed I am to have the friendship and respect of all of you. I am humbled and grateful for the support you give to me and to my projects. I couldn't do what I do without you. Now that the giving season is upon us once more, I would appreciate it if you would consider offering your support to an organization whose work is close to my heart. The people of Sexto Sol Center for Community Action are tireless in their efforts to serve impoverished communities in Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala. With economic times being what they are, it has been especially difficult for non-profits to maintain their former levels of contributions. I know that many of you have generously givien to Sexto Sol in the past. I appreciate your thoughtful kindness more than I can say. I am hoping that even more of you will consider making a contribution towards helping them this holiday season. No amount of a donation is too small. Pennies add up to dollars, and dollars change lives. You can go directly to http://sextosol.org/ or reach them through my web site to read more about the vital work that is being done. There are a variety of ways that you can help. If you are a coffee drinker, bypass Starbuck's one day and send the money to Sexto Sol through whom, by the way, outstanding coffee can be purchased. I hope that you will find it in your heart to help. There is no greater holiday gift you could give to me than this. With all my love and appreciation and good wishes for a blessed new year, Edward James Olmos |

FedCon 2009: Special BSG DVD released this week Have you ever dreamt of watching a professionally-produced DVD that contains Q&As done by James Callis, Richard Hatch, Michael Hogan, Edward James Olmos, or Mark Sheppard? Wouldn't that be a fantastic BSG-themed Christmas present? Well, I've got great news for you: The great people of Intex Digital Sound released two major FedCon 18 DVDs this week: -- a 2-disc "FedCon 18 Highlights" DVD set, -- and a 2-disc "Battlestar Q&A" DVD set containing all the BSG panels from this year's massive, star-studded FedCon in Bonn, Germany. Both DVDs are code-free, and they're available in PAL or NTSC. If you want those DVDs, send an e-mail to fedcon@intexsound.de (no worries, they speak English). By the way, I'm not affiliated with Intex Digital Sound, but I'd be happy to try and answer any questions that you might have. By the way, DVDs from last year's FedCon (Cairns, Clyne, Forbes, McDonnell) are on sale, too. ( Full DVD details ) |

Mary McDonnell & Edward James Olmos' FIRST performance together . . .
And it ain't BSG. According to my TiVo - the 1997 Adaptation of 12 Angry Men - Mary McDonnell is the judge and EJO a juror - is going to be on TV Land on January 1, 2010 at 9 AM Eastern. I've not seen this released on DVD or VHS so far as I can tell, so you may want to set your recording device of choice in order to catch it - it's a pretty decent adaptation (Also includes William Peterson, James Gandolfini, Jack Lemmon, and George C. Scott among others). |

From SyFy's website
THE PLAN is airing on SyFy on Jan 10th at 10/9C.
Michael Trucco is in a SyFy Original Movie called METEOR STORM. But there seems to be some conflicting info on when it will air. The front page of the SyFy BSG website says it's airing on January 30th at 9/8C. The website page for the movie has it listed as airing on January 16th at 9/8C. The schedule on the SyFy website has it listed as airing on January 30th at 9/8C (with additional airings on Jan 30th at 1am and Feb 2nd at 7pm). ( additional screen caps under the LJ cut ... )

BSG mention in Entertainment Weekly's Best of 2009 issue
It did not make their Top 10 TV shows of the year, but it's #6 on their "Favorite Episodes" list. :) 6. Battlestar Galactica, "Blood on the Scales". After so much sci-fi kookiness and human/Cylon ennui, it was the bloody mutiny orchestrated by the peg-legged, tragic Felix Gaeta (Alessandro Juliani) that finally snapped BSG back into shape. The second half of this two-episode arc teemed with mind-frakkingly great moments, sending the series on its final voyage with a haunting, heart-stirring bang. Current Mood: proud |

Cons: new guests for 2010, top guests in 2009
Lots of new guest announcements this week: - Kevin Grazier will be at Phoenix Comicon (May 27-30, 2010, in Phoenix, AZ)
- Kandyse McClure joins Luciana Carro at Toronto Comic-Con (March 26-28, 2010)
- Edward James Olmos joins Katee Sackhoff at Shore Leave (July 9-11, 2010, in Baltimore, MD)
- Ryan Robbins is scheduled to attend Chevron 7.4 (January 29-31, 2010, in Birmingham, UK)
- Mark Sheppard joins Luciana Carro and Richard Hatch at Anaheim Comic-Con (April 16-18, 2010, in Anaheim, CA)
Complete list of BSG consSpeaking of that list... I don't know why, but I felt like "analyzing" it. Turns out 26(!) notable BSG actors attended at least one convention, signing show, live auction or promo event this year - including the entire Top 20, with the notable exception of Paul "Poor Billy" Campbell. Top guests were: - The Queen of BSG conventions: Luciana Carro (16 appearances)
- The King of BSG conventions: Michael Hogan (14 appearances)
- Aaron Douglas, Edward James Olmos (8 appearances)
- Mary McDonnell (7 appearances)
- James Callis, Mark Sheppard, Richard Hatch (6 appearances)
- Katee Sackhoff (5 appearances)

The similarity is damn distracting
Have been PVR'ing "V" and finally got around to watching the first four episodes the other day. Anyone else here watching this show? Anyone else think that Scott Wolfe, who is playing the journalist Chad, looks a HELL of a lot like Jamie Bamber? Some photos for your comparision: Scott Wolfe: Jamie Bamber: Watching the show, I just can't help but see the similarities. It's driving me bonkers. As far as I can tell they're in no way related, but it's freaky to me. I keep expecting Chad to start looking for Starbuck. Current Mood: geeky |

Friday Favorite
Now that BSG is over and our fridays are cold and lonely, I'm doing an ongoing "Friday Favorite" thread. Each week I choose one character (or episode or whatever else) and kick off the conversation from there. This way we can keep the BSG love alive and well, and share some of our best memories of the series! In the comments below, tell us what your favorite Cally moment was of the entire series. Feel free to go into as much or as little detail as ya like. If you can't think of just one, list your top three. :) These Friday Favorites will span everything from the mini-series to the series finale, so avoid this thread if you're not caught up. P.S. If you missed last week's Romo-centric Friday Favorite, here's a link. |

Questions for Jane Espensen?
Hello Everyone! As part of my promotion and coverage for the premiere of Caprica this coming January for my science in entertainment site ScriptPhD.com, I will be interviewing showrunner (and former BSG writer Jane Espensen). I will be passing these along to the SyFy Channel at the end of this week. We are pooling questions at our fan space. I would love to pick 5 or 6 of the most thoughtful questions from the fans, and yes, I will be asking one or two about BSG. (Still not over the show ending!) You can read our review of the Caprica pilot HERE and our coverage of the joint BSG/Caprica panel at the Los Angeles Paley Television Festival earlier this spring HERE. Looking forward to reposting in January, when we have had a chance to pass along these questions to Ms. Espensen via the SyFy publicity team! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. See you in 2010. Cheers! X-posted to caprica_fans |

LOST on Tumblr!
Hey everyone, my name is Crit! If you're reading this, that means you already know about the best LOST community on Livejournal, and I'm here to let you all know that if you happen to have a Tumblr, there's a great place on there for LOST as well that I co-run! It's called Fuck Yeah LOST!. There's usually about a post per day of LOST-related goodies. I kept up with the (damoncarltonandapolarbear.com) poster series that has gone on this off season that will conclude soon, I recently posted some bonus stuff from the Season 5 DVD that comes out Tuesday, and I even made a list of its prices at various online retailers for those who hadn't purchased it yet. There's been a lot of fun stuff posted in between all of that, and there's a link to our Formspring on the site for our great users to submit things to us! If you're on Tumblr, come join the 1900+ other Tumblrers who follow us! Thanks! Crit |

Lost University Code?
Does anyone have the Lost University login that came with the Blu Ray and isn't planning on playing? I have a DVD player, that's it, and no money to get a Blu Ray. I have been waiting to play LU and was devastated to find it wasn't available to me. If anyone has a code and would like to give it to someone who'd definitely appreciate it, I would love you! |
